Founder of WikiLeaks questioned by Swedish police
Swedish police interviewed the founder of the WikiLeaks Julian Assanzha suspected of harassment, reports AFP.
According to the lawyer Assanzha Leif Silberski, the questioning went “very well”. Silberski expects that prosecutors fully closes the case. He described the history “very odd”.
Swedish prosecutor on duty issued an arrest warrant Assanzha evening of 20 August. Founder WikiLeaks suspected of rape and harassment. The next day, the chief prosecutor of Stockholm Eva Finn withdrew the warrant on the basis of new data, and withdrew Assanzha charges of rape.
The investigation into the alleged harassment continued. On Friday, August 27 lawyer two women, who suggested the charges against Assanzha, appealed the decision of prosecutors to close the case of rape.
According Assanzha, the charges are part of a campaign to discredit the resource WikiLeaks, recently published more than 75 thousand documents relating to activities of U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Allegations of rape and abuse have appeared in a few weeks before the scheduled date of publication of 15,000 documents.
