Google may turn YouTube into an online movie theater
Google is considering making the YouTube Movies running in full online movie theater reports The Financial Times citing anonymous sources.
It is reported Google representatives have been negotiating the introduction of pay showing of films with major Hollywood studios. It is expected that this could happen before the end of 2010.
Watching movies will be streamed. It specifies that the cost of box office showing new products can make about five dollars. Films will be available for viewing at the same time on DVD and on popular Internet resources, such as Apple iTunes.
It is planned that initially pay per view will be introduced in the U.S.. However, Google plans include a gradual expansion of geography of service.
In late August, Google introduced a section called the video sharing YouTube Movies (“Movies”).This section is entirely devoted to film, and is currently a collection of over 400 free movies.
In January 2010 in YouTube have tested the mechanism of paid display. Then ten days Google has earned just over 10 thousand dollars for the demonstration of films from the Festival program Sundance.
