British Parliament said goodbye to 150 years old red briefcase

British Parliament said goodbye to one of his historical characters – a red portfolio, which for 150 years in the House of Commons have made the text of the speech on the budget prepared by the government.
For the first time the budget portfolio using well-known politician, four times Prime Minister William Gladstone in 1860. Since then, it was used almost all of the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer. Among the exceptions – Gordon Brown, former Chancellor of the Exchequer for 10 years, with Prime Minister Tony Blair. He ordered a new briefcase.

State Archives of the UK said that the portfolio will no longer be used by ministers, since it is in poor condition, he will become a museum exhibit. However, the current head of the Treasury George Osborne said he did not intend to become the first 150 years, the Chancellor, the Tories, who is not holding a famous budget portfolio. As a result, the archive enabled him to repeatedly use the historic ministerial attribute.
