New cast for On Stranger Tides Astrid Berges-Frisbey from French Connection

Astrid Berges-Frisbey from French Connection’s The woman campaign, is going to appear on the fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean, On Stranger Tides, which will be released end of 2011.

Berges-Frisbey, the current face of the French Connection spring Summer Collection – 2010 campaign, The woman – was chosen by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall to play the key role of, a beautiful and attractive young mermaid Sirena in the fourth series of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Berges-Frisbey joins Johnny Depp, returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow, and Penelope Cruz, who will play the daughter of Blackbird.The fourth film shooting begins in June this year in Hawaii,UK and Los Angeles. The film is scheduled to open on May 20, 2011.

Astrid was born in Barcelona, the Franco-American and Catalan origin, and currently lives in Paris,She is one of the brightest young French stars appearing in the French movie “La Fille du Puisatier”, “Bruc”, “Extase” ”La Premiere Etoile” and “Un Barrage Contre Le Pacifique”.
Her first steps into the world of fashion was French Connection’s Spring  Summer 2010 international campaign and will continue to work with brand fpr Autumn Winter 2010.

About  On Stranger Tides

Author Tim Powers discovered that Disney bought the film rights to the 1988 pirate novel “On Stranger Tides”, upon which the fourth film will be loosely based. Pirates writer, Terry Rossio, exposed that they will use elements from the novel, but the film will not be based on it.

In the film, Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Hector Barbossa go to find the Fountain of Youth. Cast of the previous films, Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush, have signed on to reprise their roles respectively after wanting to return as their characters.

New cast members include Ian McShane, confirmed to play the notorious pirate and Penélope Cruz,also set to play Blackbeard’s daughter and Sparrow’s love interest in the film.Stephen Graham will star a new pirate character, Sam Claflin is playing a missionary named “Philip.Keith Richard’s role as Captain Teague from At World’s End, and he and Depp are trying to persuade Mick Jagger to appear as a pirate elder.Greg acts as Theodore Groves from The Curse of the Black Pearl and At World’s End’ Kevin McNally role of Joshamee Gibbs.

Previous actors Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley told that they would not participate in the On Stranger Tides because  they want to do different projects and also think that the story line had come to the end.Mackenzie Crook also will not play as he wants to spend more time with his family.

On May 17, 2010, Disney Studios Chairman Rich Ross has announced that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will be shot and released in 3D. Filming is set to begin in June 14, 2010 in Hawaii. The film is set to be released on May 20, 2011.
