Social Security Administration has named the top ten most popular names used to designate newborns in 2009.
The most popular name for boys in 2009 – Jacob. This name holds the leadership for 11 years in a row.
Last year’s leader among the girls’ names are less fortunate. Emma, reigned only one year, and now occupies second place. The queen Isabella.
Pop culture has had a great influence on the choice of names in 2009.
Many of the leading names – or simply have advanced up – came from the popular series “Twilight” about teenagers, love and vampires.
Edward Cullen – one of the main characters of the series. Although the name of Edward rose by only 11 points, name Cullen soared from 485 seats to 297. Girlfriend nice vampire named Bella, Isabella.
Jacob – also one of the characters in “Twilight”, although this name was leading long before the publication of the book.
