Nokia and Intel demonstrated a new operating system MeeGo

Intel and Nokia on Mobile Congress in Barcelona unveiled the platform MeeGo, which will be a hybrid of mobile systems Moblin (Mobile Linux) and Maemo. The first versions MeeGo appear in the second quarter of 2010, and devices based on the OS – until the end of the year.
MeeGo designed to work on a wide range of devices, including smart phones, tablets and netbooks. This will create applications that will work without adaptation on several types of devices. Store applications MeeGo will be owned by Nokia Ovi Store.

MeeGo system will be fully open, developers will publish its source code. Both corporations have stated that all manufacturers of hardware will have equal access to MeeGo.

MeeGo will coexist with a platform of Symbian, which is now used for smartphones. The new OS will be installed in more expensive than normal cell phones. In particular, it is designed for devices of class Nokia N900, which Finnish corporation prefers to call mobile computers
