Cisco Systems Today
Notable names that have been moving higher in the after hours include, Cisco Systems (NASDAQ : CSCO), Burger King (NYSE: BKC), Spectra Energy (NYSE: SE), and Under Armour (NYSE: UA). Tech bellweather, Cisco (CSCO), reported very strong earnings after the bell today and the stock has appreciated 3.42% and is now trading at $23.86.
The move in Burger King (BKC [FREE Stock Trend Analysis]) is interesting because it appears traders are trying to buy the name ahead of their earnings report tomorrow morning. BKC has moved 3.66% to the upside in the after hours after shedding 2.18% during normal market hours. The shares are currently exchanging hands for $17.50.
The movement in Under Armour (UA) is also noteworthy. The stock fell 3.43% during the regular market session, but has advanced 3.55% in the after hours, so the day has basically been a wash. Jim Cramer said that he thinks its OK to buy UA here in his lightning round segment on CNBC’s Mad Money, but I doubt that this accounts for the move. I think that the action might be related to a rumor which was circulated yesterday that said Nike (NYSE: NKE) might be looking to acquire Under Armour (UA), but this is just speculation on my part. The stock is currently priced at $26.80.
Spectra Energy Corp. (SE) is up 6% in the after hours and is now trading at $23.00. The company reports earnings tomorrow morning, so traders must be expecting an upside surprise.
