Subscribers Yota few days without access to opposition Web sites

Operator WiMAX “Skartel”, working under the brand name Yota, a few days did not provide some of its subscribers access to the resources of the opposition, wrote on Monday, December 7, the newspaper Vedomosti.

The fact that the resources are blocked by the opposition, first reported on Thursday the agency “New Region” and the Sunday Correspondent “Vedomosti” found that the sites are closed only for the Moscow subscribers Yota, but available for users in St. Petersburg. On Sunday evening, access to resources has been restored.

Among the blocked, according to the newspaper, were the resources kasparov.ru, nazbol.ru, kavkazcenter.ru, newtimes.ru, rusolidarnost.ru and rufront.ru. Also been hampered access to the site of President of Russia kremlin.ru.

General manager Skartel Denis Sverdlov told the newspaper that November 5th WiMAX operator received a warning from the prosecutor of St. Petersburg with the recommendation to block access to extremist sites.

At the same time in the list of extremist materials published on the website of Ministry of Justice, the above sites are absent. Among similar means only site kavkazcenter.com (but not kavkazcenter.ru, as indicated in the newspaper Vedomosti, ca. “Lenty.Ru”).

Experts polled by Vedomosti, suggested that the company “Skartel” decided to compile a list of extremist websites. However, the press-service companies such assumptions are rejected, stating that the company blocks access only to the extremist resources recognized under the Ministry of Justice. Inability to get to other sites the provider explained the technical problems, including – from the sites themselves.

A source close to “Skartel, told the newspaper that prosecutors appealed to the company after checking one of the schools connected to the network Yota. Others interviewed by Vedomosti ISPs have stated that the requirements of the prosecutor’s office did not receive.
