Most Americans support government health insurance plan
A recent poll published Tuesday showed that the majority of Americans support one of the most contentious health care reform bills being debated by legislators.
According to the poll, 57 percent of Americans support the creation of a new government health insurance plan, competing with private insurance schemes.
The poll, which was attended by more than 1 000 people, conducted between 15 th and 18 th of October, showed that the majority of Americans, 51 percent supported a law requiring mandatory health insurance for all Americans.
Only 10 percent of respondents believe that health reform can reduce the deficit, while 68 percent believe that it will increase the U.S. budget deficit.
