Houston a lesbian mayor was elected

Saturday, Houston became the first American city where the mayor gay was elected.

Annise Parker won the race, and for many gays and lesbians and their supporters, her victory was symbolic, after the two states, California and Maine, failed bills to legalize gay marriage.

“Voters in Houston opened the door to history,” – said Parker after his election as mayor. “I know that this victory mean for many of us who never thought he could get such a high post,” – she added.

When Parker takes the post of mayor in early January, she will face a budget deficit of $ 130 million.
