Germany began a new round of negotiations with Israel and Hamas

German mediator brought into the Gaza Strip, the Israeli response to the demands of implementation of which the Palestinians have linked the release from captivity three years of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit said on Monday, Arabic language TV channel Al-Arabiya.

TV quoted an unnamed Palestinian source, according to which the position of Islamists who want to exchange Shalit for hundreds of his countrymen, will be formulated immediately, but after coming this week of consultations between the leaders of Hamas in Gaza and Damascus.

Agence France Presse says that the parties are still unable to agree on a list of names of prisoners, which Israel is to be released in exchange for a soldier. There are debates around some 70 candidates, said the agency report from Cairo.

On the eve of the Israeli Government announced in principle the possibility of release in the upcoming transaction 980 Arab prisoners.

It is also expected that the release of Shalit will help lift the blockade of the Gaza Strip, which was introduced in the summer of 2006 after the capture of the tank crew.

Parameters of a prisoner exchange worked out in the backroom negotiations that the parties are mediated by Germany and Egypt.
