Bernanke said that inflation does not threaten the U.S. economy

Ben Bernanke, the head of the Federal Reserve System (FRS), answering the questions of legislators, said the U.S. economy still growing below its potential and that inflation is unlikely to be a problem for the United States.

Bernanke sent a letter to Senator Jim Banning (Jim Bunning), Republican from Kentucky, because he is waiting for Senate approval of his appointment to head the Fed for a second term.

Earlier this month, during a hearing at the Senate Banking Committee before approving the position of Mr. Bernanke had to listen to harsh criticisms in his address because he was unable to prevent the financial crisis and provoked the strain the resources of the central bank in an attempt to defuse tensions in the banking sector.

Bernanke, in a letter received by the office of Banning, said that high unemployment and low utilization of productive capacity of enterprises, showed that in the near future is unlikely to start rising inflation.
