U.S. is the largest supplier of poultry to Russia. In 2009 it is planned to import 1.252 million tons, the American share will amount to 931.5 thousand tons.
Since the new year chicken producers would have to abandon chlorine for decontamination of poultry carcasses. A decree Rospotrebnadzor head Gennady Onishchenko, the suppliers did not like “Bush legs”. But now they are willing to negotiate.
The document caused disagreement primarily the main suppliers of chicken to Russia – American manufacturers. “But Russia is not a member of the WTO”, – noted the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Russia. We have the technology uses only the most backward producers in the United States – the most advanced,” – said Onishchenko, and added that if Russia pays money then he has the right to “dictate terms”.
Onishchenko believes that disinfect poultry meat should now be using lactic, acetic acids. Six months after the release of the document and two weeks before its entry into force of the American manufacturers were forced to negotiate, to be held soon.
