American soldiers’ stay in Poland

Official Washington and Warsaw have reached an agreement on the conditions of stay of American troops in Poland. It is reported by Serbian television stations B92, with reference to the British media.

Under the “Treaty on the Status of Armed Forces (SOFA), which must be signed by the parties on Dec. 10, 2009, when American soldiers commit crimes, they are subject to Polish jurisdiction. In addition, the document prescribed conditions of taxation of troops the United States.

Tentative agreement reached by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland, Stanislaw Komorowski, already received the approval of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

The agreement allows U.S. forces to deploy some 100 missiles, air-ground system “Patriot”, which should be delivered in this country under an agreement in Warsaw and Washington on the improvement of the Polish air defense (PVO).

The corresponding agreement reached between the parties in August 2008 is planned that the missiles arrive in Poland in 2010-2011.
